Tune Into Your Heart, Learn to Hear Your Intuition

Your intuition is the most powerful ability your possess.  Your intuition is your unbreakable connection to the divine, God, your highest self.  Learning to feel and hear your intuition is arguably the most important work you can do.

When you have done the work to declutter your physical and mental space, you are taking care of your physical, mental, and emotional health, you are taking time to put your body at ease with movement, and taking space in silence to connect with you breath and unite the body and mind, your intuition becomes so much more apparent.

You know the feeling—that quiet, knowing voice that whispers in moments of clarity or the sudden gut feeling that nudges us toward a decision. This is your intuition speaking, a powerful inner compass that, when cultivated, can guide you toward alignment, clarity, and fulfillment. Learning to tune into your heart and hear your intuition is less about seeking and more about listening, creating space, and trusting what arises.

In a world filled with constant notifications and endless to-do lists, silence has become a rarity. Yet, it’s in the stillness that intuition speaks the loudest. Create stillness in your day. You don't have to meditate for hours, although kudos if you do. Simply sit in silence, don't reach for your phone anytime you feel nervous or your waiting in line. You don't need to have a TV show running in the background while you cook, clean, or do things around the house. Let yourself be immersed in washing the dishes, or waiting in line, or going for a walk without putting on a podcast or scrolling social media. Let your thoughts settle, and notice the subtle cues and ideas that arise when your mind isn’t preoccupied. Silence is where your heart’s whispers become audible.

Mindfulness is the art of being fully present in the moment. When you focus on your breath, the rustle of leaves in the wind, or the warmth of sunlight on your skin, you ground yourself in the now. In this state of awareness, you become more attuned to patterns, insights, and intuitive nudges that might otherwise be drowned out by the mental chatter. A thought will strike you suddenly in these moments. Not the loud screams of anxiety, but a subtle whisper from the heart. A divine nudge, a sudden urge. It doesn't have to be logical, it doesn't have to make sense--this is your intuition telling you what to do. Your heart is smarter than your mind. Trust it.

Intuition often speaks through the body—a clenching in your stomach, a wave of tension, or a sense of ease and lightness. These physical sensations are your body’s way of communicating what your mind may not yet understand. Begin noticing how your body reacts in various situations, particularly when making decisions. Is there a heaviness that suggests resistance, or does something feel expansive and right? Your body is a reliable partner in decoding your intuition.

Writing is a direct line to your subconscious mind. Start a journal where you record your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Revisit your entries over time to uncover recurring themes or moments where your intuition guided you accurately. Journaling not only clears mental clutter but also helps you recognize patterns and strengthens your trust in the intuitive hits you’ve already experienced.

Dreams are also an impeccable window into your intuition. I read a fascinating book called The Alchemy of Your Dreams that I picked up at a local bookstore on my travels. The author suggests keeping a dream journal next to your bed, the second you wake up from a dream, even if its in the middle of the night, write down everything you remember. It doesnt have to be sequential or even make sense. Don't let yourself fully wake up- I don't even turn on a light-- just let your hand write, staying in that nuanced space between awake and asleep. I was shocked at the results. First of all, the sheer volume of dreams I was having was astounding. Some nights I'd write down three or four dreams. Second, the patterns that emerged over time, the reoccuring themes and parallels to my waking life were jarring. But being able to have these patterns so clearly laid out in front of me was a major catalyst for growth. I could clearly see things my subconscious was stuck on and other things it was pushing me towards. It was as if my dreams were handing me a map—an unfiltered glimpse into my deepest desires, fears, and unresolved emotions, all waiting to guide me toward a more aligned and authentic version of myself.

Intuition often speaks quickly, before logic has a chance to weigh in. It’s the instant feeling of “yes” or “no” when faced with a decision or the quiet nudge to turn left instead of right. Practice noticing your initial gut reaction and honoring them, even if they don’t always make logical sense at first. The more you trust these fleeting moments, the more your intuition will strengthen. And often you will be validated in your decision as time goes on and life plays out, others may even take notice of your strong intuitive abilities.

Creativity is one of intuition’s closest allies. Whether you’re painting, writing, dancing, or cooking, creative activities free your mind from rigid logic and open up a flow state where intuitive insights can surface. When inspiration strikes, you act on it immediately without hesitation. This is how art is created. Not from the logical mind, but from the heart when in flow. Use creative outlets to flex your intuitive muscle, trust yourself and your instincts. When you let go of overthinking and immerse yourself in creativity, you create space for your intuition to shine through in surprising and meaningful ways.

When faced with a tough decision, pause and ask yourself, What feels right? The logical mind wants to create pro and con lists and seek advice and validation from your friends, family, and any stranger on the park bench next to you. But your intuition knows the answer. You know. But it needs stillness and quiet for you to listen. Ask yourself What feels right? and then let the question go. Go about your day in flow and stillness, and the answer will pop into your head while you are grocery shopping or roller skating. This is entire premise of shower thoughts. For some people the only time they arent filling their life with distraction is in the shower, it is the only time their mind is still, as the body goes through the well-versed routine of showering. When the mind finally has a moment of stillness, the intuition finally gets its turn to speak. You will know when its your intuition because the answer feels peaceful, natural, or deeply aligned.

Nature, like the shower, has an incredible way of quieting the mind and reconnecting us to our inner selves. Whether it’s a walk through the woods, sitting by the ocean, or simply lying in the grass, nature creates a space for reflection and deeper connection. This is another place to avoid putting on music, a podcast, or documenting everything for social media. Use this time to tune into your thoughts, feelings, and intuition without distractions.

I am sure you can recall times in your life when you “just knew” something and were right. Maybe it was the sudden feeling to reach out to a friend or a gut instinct that saved you from making a poor decision. Get in the habit of noticing when your intuition was on point, and validating yourself. Reflecting on these moments reinforces the reality of your intuitive abilities and helps you trust that inner guidance moving forward.

Doubt is one of intuition’s greatest blockers. To develop your intuition, you must trust it—even when it feels unfamiliar or uncertain. Start small: act on a quiet nudge to try a new route home or to check in on someone. With each intuitive decision you honor, you’ll build confidence in your inner guidance and strengthen your connection to it.

Tuning into your intuition is learning to listen, trust, and allow your inner wisdom to guide you. The more you practice these steps, the more naturally your intuition will flow, helping you navigate life with clarity and confidence. Trust that your heart knows the way, and let its quiet voice lead you toward your highest path.
